Lorin Breen

Lorin Breen, PhD

lorin-breen@uiowa.edu

Lorin Breen received her PhD in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Purdue University. She completed her MS degree in Medical Physics and BS in Nuclear Engineering at Purdue. Her prior research extended crossed-field physics to account for collisional influence. Her clinical interests include HDR brachytherapy and MR Linac.

Nathan Shaffer

Nathan Shaffer, PhD

nathan-shaffer@uiowa.edu

Nathan Shaffer earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa, his MS in Medical Physics from Duke University, and his BS in Mathematics and Physics from Case Western Reserve University. His research focuses on adaptive radiotherapy, particularly on the MR Linac platform. Specifically, he is developing a reinforcement learning agent that can rapidly generate deliverable machine parameters while adapting to changing clinical needs.

Justin Geise

Justin Geise, MS

justin-geise@uiowa.edu

Justin Geise earned his MS degree in Medical Physics from Purdue University. He completed his BS degree in Physics, with a concentration in Biomedical Physics, at Purdue University Fort Wayne. His research interests include two main areas. First, the development and characterization of 3D-printed GRID collimators for both preclinical and clinical systems to explore the mechanisms of spatially fractionated radiotherapy. Second, evaluating the theragnostic potential of ferumoxytol in combination with chemoradiotherapy for treating glioblastoma.

Hannah Schloman

Hannah Schloman, MS

hannah-schloman@uiowa.edu

Hannah Schloman received her MS degree in Medical Physics from Creighton University and her BS degree in Chemical Engineering with minors in Nuclear Engineering and Physics from the University of Missouri. As an undergrad, Hannah worked in a soybean genetics lab and in radiation safety. Hannah’s graduate research was focused on using collagen as a non-invasive, optical biopsy for skin cancer.  Her clinical interests involve adaptive therapy, radiopharmaceuticals, and radiation safety.
