Applications and Deadlines

All applications are through the AAPM Medical Physics Residency Application Program (MP-RAP). Registrations open in early to mid – September for an early December application deadline.

Residency openings are available each year starting on July 1. Deadline for the receipt of application materials is early December of the preceding year.

Interviews

If you are considered for an appointment, you will be invited to a virtual interview with the program director and selected faculty and staff at the University of Iowa. Interviews are generally conducted between mid January and early March.

Residents will receive a competitive stipend and benefits package.

Application Criteria

Applicants must have either graduated with an MS or PhD from a CAMPEP-accredited graduate program, have completed a CAMPEP-accredited certificate program, or have taken and passed coursework that satisfies the CAMPEP standards for graduate education. The University of Iowa supports certain visa applications for highly qualified international applicants, including TN, H1-B, and F1 STEM OPT.

Positions

There are one or two positions in the Radiation Oncology Medical Physics Residency Program each year on a competitive basis.

Residency Fairs

The University of Iowa medical physics residency program participates in the AAPM residency fair at the annual scientific meeting and in the AAPM virtual residency fair each year. Look for our booth at the AAPM ASM and for an email from the Students and Training Sub-Committee for these events.
